LISBON (AFP) – Portugal’s most decorated club Benfica added further silverware to their overladen trophy cabinet on Sunday in the shape of a 33rd league title.

The Lisbon giant’s 2-0 win over Olhanense moved them up to an uncatchable 73 points with two games of the season remaining.

Their city rivals Sporting, who beat Belenenses 1-0 on Saturday, are destined for the runners-up spot on 66 points.

Benfica’s success ended FC Porto’s run of three successive championships.

In front of a 65,000 crowd at the Estadio da Luz, Benfica wrapped up the 2013/2014 title with quick-fire second half goals from their Brazilian striker Lima.

Aside from a record 33rd title haul the former two-time European champions, who it has been claimed are the most widely supported club in the world, also have a record 24 Cup wins.
