Twenty two Nigerian senators have joined the embarrassing search for 234 Nigerian schoolgirls abducted by Boko Haram gunmen from a secondary school in Chibok, Borno state.

Tonight, the Senate President, Sen. David Mark, would lead the 21 other senators to meet with President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mark, who made the announcement during Wednesday’s plenary, said the meeting was aimed at finding ways to rescue the affected girls and end insurgency in the nation.

He said the meeting, slated for 10 p.m., would hold at the Aso Rock Villa.

The Senate had on Tuesday resolved to ask the Federal Government to intensify efforts to secure immediate rescue of the abducted female students.

It also urged the Federal Government to seek the assistance of ECOWAS and the UN for modern equipment to aid the search and rescue.

Members of the delegation include Senators Boluwaji Kunlere, Babafemi Ojudu, Zainab Kure, Alkali Jajere, James Manager, Helen Esuene and Chris Anyanwu,

Others are Ali Ndume, Ahmed Zannah, Maina Lawan, Ahmed Makarfi, Mohammed Magoro, Ahmed Lawan and Ahmed Barata.

The remaining are Barnabas Gemade, Sola Adeyeye, Bindowo Jibrilla, Ehigie Uzamere, Bello Tukur, Bukar Ibrahim and Uche Chukwumerije.

The News Agency of Nigeri (NAN) reports that the meeting will also afford senators from the affected areas opportunity to relay intelligence at their disposal to the President.
