Needing a win to go a point ahead of second placed Barcelona and within two points of leaders Atletico Madrid, Sergio Ramos gave the visitors a 35th minute lead in his 400th appearance for the club and have them on their way.

But with Valladolid among six clubs in danger of getting relegated, Humberto Osorio equalised for the home side with five minutes left and secure a 1-1 draw that does mich help to neither side but damages Real Madrid’s title hopes.

The result leaves Real Madrid third with 84 points, a point behind Barcelona and four points behind Atletico with two matches left in the Spanish league season.

The former Spanish champions were earlier dealt a blow after Cristiano Ronaldo was substituted with a hamstring injury. It remains unclear if the reigning world player of the year will recover in time for the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid.

Valladolid meanwhile now lie in 16th place with 36 points, two points behind 14th placed Elche, a point and a place behind Granada, ahead of Almeria and Getafe on goal difference and a point ahead of Osasuna in a relegation battle that looks set to go down the wire.

Over in France, Paris St. Germain sealed a second successive Ligue 1 title despite losing 2-1 at home to Coupe de France finalists Rennes, as closest title rivals Monaco was held to a 1-1 draw at home to Coupe de France winners Guingamp.

With two matches left in the French season, PSG, who may face a number of sanctions from UEFA for breaching Financial Fair Play regulations, have 83 points while Monaco lie seven points behind.
