Matchday 12 of the 2014 Nigeria Premier League season saw three clubs claim dramatic wins away from home, including league defending champions Kano Pillars at nearby Gombe United.

Adamu Mohammed had put Gombe ahead midway through the first half. Super Eagles midfielder Rabiu Ali however equalised for Pillars 10 minutes before half time.

Two goals in the closing five minutes of the half put Pillars 3-1 up by half time and though Haruna Babalo pulled one back for the home side, Kano Pillars held on for a 3-2 win.

As a result, Pillars rise out of the relegation zone with the win and now occupy 16th place on the Nigeria Premier League table with 14 points, level on points with Gombe United with identical goal difference as well.

Elsewhere, Dolphins of Port-Harcourt got a 1-0 win at El-Kanemi Warriors thanks to a 23rd minute goal from Omo Johnson. El-Kanemi could have at least shared the points but Abraham Audu saw his penalty saved.

The result sees Dolphins go nine places up on the league table to fifth spot with 17 points, five points behind city rivals Sharks that won their match at home to Giwa FC of Jos.

And in Benin City, visiting Abia Warriors came from a Peter Ebimobowei goal down to claim a 3-1 win against Bayelsa United, with Ifeanyi Onyeali scoring a brace for Abia Warriors.

Despite the impressive result, Abia Warriors remain in the relegation zone in 19th place with 14 points. However, the Abia team is just one point off safety on what is a close league table so far.

Bayelsa United meanwhile drop two places to sixth spot on the Nigeria Premier League table with 17 points as a result, a position they share with Sunshine Stars of Akure courtesy of having identical records. Bayelsa though have two games in hand.
