Juventus finished the Italian league season on a record high, after a 3-0 win over Cagliari ensured the Old Lady became the first team in Serie A history to win more than 100 points in a season.

Goals from Claudio Marchisio, Fernando Llorente sealed a routine win for the league champions after a fifth minute own goal had set them on their way to a record haul of 102 points.

The win over Cagliari also saw Juventus finish the season with a perfect home record, winning all 19 matches played in front of their home fans and scoring 47 goals along the way.

Juventus had wrapped up a third successive Serie A title two weeks ago following AS Roma’s loss at Catania then. Roma on their part ended the season with another loss, falling 1-0 at lowly Genoa to finish 17 points behind Juve in second place.

In other results, Duvan Zapata and Dries Mertens each scored a brace as Coppa Italia winners Napoli romped to a 5-1 win over Hellas Verona, AC Milan finished eighth with 57 points after a 2-1 win over Sassuolo while city rivals Inter finished fifth with 60 points and claim a place in next season’s Europa League despite losing 2-1 at Chievo Verona.

Torino ended a commendable season in seventh, ahead of Milan on goal difference, after playing out a 2-2 draw at Fiorentina that finished in fourth place with 65 points.

Elsewhere, a stoppage time Lucas Biglia penalty gave Lazio a 1-0 win over relegated Bologna, Parma won 2-0 at home to Livorno while Udinese played out a 3-3 draw at fellow mid-table side Sampdoria.

Juventus and Roma qualify as Italy’s representatives in the group stage of next season’s UEFA Champions League, while Napoli qualify for the Champions League final qualifying round.

Inter Milan, Fiorentina and Parma meanwhile will Italy in next season’s Europa League, with Parma qualifying by virtue of Fiorentina reaching the Coppa Italia final and losing to Napoli, which already has qualified for the Champions League playoff.
