One of Nigeria’s opponents in the group stage of the 2014 FIFA World Cup, Iran played out a goalless draw against Montenegro in a friendly match this evening in Vienna, Austria.

The Iranians, coached by former Portugal and Real Madrid coach Carlos Queiroz, enjoyed more of the possession but had to settle for a second goalless draw in eight days, having played out same scoreline in an earlier friendly match against Belarus.

Iran will next face east African nation Angola before wrapping up their World Cup preparations in Austria with a match against Trinidad and Tobago early in June.

Iran will then face Nigeria in their opening Group F match on June 16 before meeting group favourites Argentina then finishing off the group stage with a match against debutants Bosnia & Herzegovina.

In another friendly match played this evening, Cameroun’s World Cup preparations were boosted in a 2-0 win over Macedonia courtesy of second half goals from Pierre Webo and Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting in Kufstein, Austria.

Webo however had to be taken off right after scoring the opener as he landed awkwardly on his shoulder after executing a bicycle kick to volley in his goal, putting his World Cup place in doubt.

Elsewhere, Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku scored a hattrick as Belgium eased to a 5-1 friendly win over Luxembourg in Genk while a late Aleksandr Kerzakhov header was enough to give Russia a 1-0 win over Macedonia.

Lukaku as a result is the first player to score a hattrick for Belgium in over a decade as he looks to lead the highly rated Belgians to a good showing at the World Cup.

Manchester United youngster Adnan Januzaj meanwhile made his debut for Belgium in the friendly match, as a second half substitute, with Nacer Chadli and Kevin de Bruyne scoring Belgium’s other goals against Luxembourg.
