Barcelona have announced the appointment of their former captain and most recently Celta Vigo manager, Luis Enrique as manager after a two-year deal was agreed.

Enrique, who led Celta Vigo to a commendable mid-table finish in the just concluded La Liga season, will replace Gerardo Martino who stepped down as manager after ending the season without a major trophy.

44 year old Enrique returns for a third spell at the Nou Camp, having played 300 times for the club before retiring in 2004, before guiding the Barcelona B-team to promotion to the second division in the 2009/10 season.

Enrique then went on to manage Italian side AS Roma before returning to Spain to manage Celta Vigo.

Meanwhile, Barcelona also announced the signing of former Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen on a five-year deal, to replace the departing Victor Valdes.

Ter Stergen will become first choice goalkeeper at the Nou Camp next season, as current first choice inthe place of injured Valdes, Jose Manuel Pinto also announced he will be leaving the club when his contract expires in June.

22 year old Ter Stegen is a highly rated German international, although he was not called to the German national squad to the 2014 World Cup by coach Joachim Löw.
