Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has been fined £10,000 by the English FA after an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing for comments he made following his club’s 2-1 home defeat to Sunderland in a Premier League match.

Mourinho had sarcastically congratulated referee Mike Dean as well as general manager of the Professional Game Match Officials Limited Mike Riley for a job well done after the match, which ended his unbeaten home record that stretched 77 matches.

In a statement, the Independent Regulatory Commission did not find Mourinho’s comment to question the integrity of Dean or Riley but the comments ”brought the game into disrepute and the charge for improper conduct was found proven.”

Also, the Chelsea manager lost his appeal against the £8,000 fine imposed on him for ”his behaviour in re-entering the field of play and approaching the match referee” during a Premier League match at Aston Villa.
