Lagos – The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) says one person died and three others sustained injuries on Thursday in an auto-crash at Ajegunle, Lagos, on the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The FRSC Unit Commander in Ogun, Mr Omatu Sunday, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Sango-Ota that the accident occurred at about 5:45 a.m.

Sunday said the accident involved a commercial bus and a tipper lorry.

He said that a quarrel ensued when the tipper driver allegedly damaged the side mirror of the bus.

He alleged that the bus driver and conductor prevailed on the tipper driver to replace the mirror but the tipper driver was said to have refused and drove off.

According to Sunday, this prompted the conductor of the bus to jump into the tipper to stop the tipper driver from escaping.

“The tipper driver lost control and ran into a stationary trailer.

“The conductor died, while 3 other occupants of the tipper sustained varying degrees of injuries,” he said.

Sunday said the body of the conductor had been deposited at the Federal Medical Centre morgue, Abeokuta.

He said the injured persons were also receiving treatment at the hospital.
