Ado-Ekiti – The Ekiti chapter of the PDP on Friday urged voters not to be scared of turning out to vote in Saturday’s governorship poll, insisting that the heavy security presence would ensure peaceful conduct of the exercise.

The PDP was reacting to reports on fears expressed by some residents over the massive presence of security personnel in the state for the election.

The Ekiti State Chairman of the PDP, Chief Makunjuola Ogundipe, told NAN in a telephone interview that there was no reason for any law-abiding voter to be afraid.

“Any voter without sinister reason has no need to be afraid.

“We do not need people from other states to infiltrate Ekiti and cause problems.

“The security presence will ensure that Ekiti residents vote for the candidate of their choice at the poll and not outsiders, ” he said.

Ogundipe noted that the security personnel in Ekiti were not in the state to molest voters but to ensure that there is no breakdown of law and order during and after the poll.

“We appeal to all registered voters to come out en masse and cast their votes,” he said.

The PDP chairman, who reiterated the party’s belief in ensuring that every vote counts, urged members to maintain peace during the exercise.
