European football governing body UEFA has expelled Serbian SuperLiga champions FK Crvena Zvezda from European club competition next season after failing to agree suitable sanctions for breaching UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.

FK Crvena Zvezda is now set to miss next season’s Champions League having qualified for the second qualifying round of the competition as Serbian champions.

According to a statement by UEFA, ”the Club Financial Control Body Adjudicatory Chamber determined that the club were in breach of a number of provisions of the UEFA Club Licencing and Financial Fair Play Regulations.”

”Accordingly,” the statement further read, ”Crvena Zvezda are excluded from participating in the 2014/15 UEFA Champions League for which they had qualified on sporting merit.”

Crvena Zvezda, previously known as Red Star Belgrade, have 10 days to appeal the expulsion at the Court of Arbitration for Sports.

The Serbian club was one of nine clubs, along with Manchester City and PSG, found to have breached FFP regulations. Man. City and PSG though have received separate sanctions from UEFA.
