Spanish giants Real Madrid this morning announced it has reached an agreement with Bayern Munich for the transfer of Germany international midfielder Toni Kroos for an undisclosed fee.

Kroos failed to reach an agreement on a contract extension at Bayern where he had a year left on his contract, prompting a move to European champions Real Madrid after signing a six-year contract.

The 24 year old midfielder was part of the Germany team that recently won the FIFA World Cup in Brazil, playing all seven matches and scoring two goals during the campaign.

Kroos began his career at Hansa Rostock and made 173 Bundesliga appearances, winning three league titles and three German Cup titles with Bayern as well as the UEFA Champions League title in 2013.

He will be presented by Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu stadium on Thursday afternoon after completing a medical at the club.
