Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Aminu Maigari has been removed from office by the NFF executive committee on the grounds of financial misappropriation and maladministration.

Maigari’s dismissal from office, reportedly signed by eight of the 13 members of the NFF executive committee, comes barely a month to the next NFF congress where elections will be held to bring in a new executive committee.

Earlier, Maigari and the NFF executive committee had be kept from office by a court injunction early in July, which resulted in Nigeria getting banned from all football activities by FIFA due to government interference.

A vacation of that injunction by a regional High Court on July 16 however saw the ban lifted by FIFA on July 17 and the executive committee reinstated into office.

With Maigari’s impeachment from office, Mike Okeke Umeh has now been placed as the acting NFF President of the NFF till a new executive committee of the NFF is constituted in August at its elective congress.
