Nigeria Football Federation has stated the dismissal of Aminu Maigari as President of the NFF will be ratified at an emergency congress of the body holding on July 31 in Abuja.

This was made known following a meeting of the Executive Committee of the NFF on Thursday, with the committee also stating a new arrangement for match bonuses for national teams at subsequent matches and competitions.

Maigari was dismissed from office by the Executive Committee on the grounds of financial misappropriation, misapplication and maladministration stemming from not calling an executive committee meeting in eight months and secrecy surrounding NFF’s financial dealings.

As a result of Maigari’s dismissal, the NFF Executive Committee appointed NFF 1st Vice-President Mike Okeke Umeh as acting-President of the NFF until elections for a new executive take place at the next NFF general assembly on August 26 in Abuja.

Also, the NFF stated that ”henceforth, all financial issues with players and officials must be thoroughly deliberated upon and agreed ahead of major matches and competitions.”

The decision on match bonuses for national team players was reached in order to avoid ”future embarrassment” of the nation as witnessed when Super Eagles players boycotted training sessions ahead of the 2014 World Cup second round match against France.
