Spanish football club Real Madrid have been listed as the world’s most valuable sports team by Forbes for a second year running with an estimated value of $3.44billion.

Real Madrid have consistently generated the most revenue per season, courtesy of reaching the semi-final of the UEFA Champions League in each of the last four seasons as well as lucrative marketing deals with Adidas and Emirates Airlines.

The reigning European champions are one of four football clubs listed in the top 10 of the Forbes rich list, with arch-rivals Barcelona rising one place to second with an estimated value of $3.2b.

Premier League club Manchester United fell one place to third with a value of $2.81b while 2013 European champions Bayern Munich rose five places to seventh spot with a value of $1.8b.

American football teams took up another four spots in the top 10, led by the Dallas Cowboys with a value of $2.3b in fifth place, between the only two Major League Baseball teams that made the top 10 with New York Yankees in fourth at $2.5b and Los Angeles Dodgers valued at $2b in sixth.
