The main reason for the collapse of the guesthouse in TB Joshua’s Synagogue has been linked with the alteration of the original plan, according to sources.

Sources at the site in Ikotun in the suburb of Lagos, said the building which normally houses foreign visitors to the Synagogue, was a two-storey building.

“This building was formerly a two storey building but it was converted to a six storey building without considering the danger,” the source said.

Three persons were on Friday feared dead when the building collapsed within the premises of the popular TB Joshua’s Synagogue Church of All Nation.

Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, the Lagos State spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), who confirmed this to the News Agency of Nigerian (NAN) said many people were still trapped.

A Corespondent of NAN who visited the scene reports that ambulances were seen taking people out of the collapse to the Isolo General Hospital.

NAN gathered that the building which was located inside the church premises, was serving as a guest house to the visiting foreigner worshipers.

An eye witness who spoke to NAN on anonymity, said that the building collapse at about 1:30pm.

NAN also sighted officials of the Lagos State Emergency Agency, Civil Defence Corp and men of the Nigeria Police providing security.

It would be noted the LASEMA officials were denied access into the premises of the collapse building, while journalist were also chased away from the scene of the incidence.

Also people who were trying to take pictures at the scene were harassed by members of the church
