Radamel Falcao made his Manchester United debut as the Red Devils picked a first league win of the season in a 4-0 crushing of Queens Park Rangers in a Premier League match on Sunday.

Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo made their debuts from the start while Falcao came on to a loud reception in the 67th minute for Juan Mata, though was unable to get his name on the score sheet at Old Trafford.

Nonetheless fans left the Theatre of Dreams with renewed optimism for the season following a commanding display against the Londoners.

Some of United’s other new faces did get their names on the score sheet, with Angel di Maria putting the home side ahead with a freekick midway through the first half for his first goal for the club.

Minutes later QPR could have been level but Johnny Evans’ last ditch block spared David de Gea’s blushes after United’s goalkeeper rushed off his line to clear only to be beaten by Matt Philips.

Midfielder Ander Herrera doubled United’s lead, hitting a low strike in for his first goal for United as well, after being laid off with a pass by Wayne Rooney whose initial effort had been kept out moments earlier.

Rooney eventually got the third for United just before half-time, benefitting from a combination between Mata and Herrera to finish off powerfully while Mata completed the scoring just before the hour mark.

Robin van Persie saw a cross clip the woodwork with 20 minutes to go while Falcao was denied a debut goal late on as the Red Devils settled for a result that takes them up to ninth on the table with five points.
