Rivers State Governor, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi: Uncle murdered

Sabinus Ordu, the uncle of Governor Chibuike Amaechi, of Rivers State has been murdered by yet to be identified persons at his farm in Ubima,in Ikwerre local Government of the state.

He was killed on Monday 8 September.

Until his death, Ordu was the Vice-Principal of Community Secondary School,,Aluu also in Ikwerre Local Government area.

Mrs Ibim Semenitari the Commissioner for Information and Communications, said when Ordu came back from school he had his meal and rode on his motorbike to check his traps at his farm in Ubima.

But when he did not return at about 8pm, alarm was raised and a search party found his body beside a bush path.

His body had been dismembered by his assailants.

The matter has been reported to Police.

On whether the family or government read political motive,Mrs Semenitari said: “The man was the Vice Principal of a school and a quiet civil servant. He is not a card carrying member of APC and he is not a contractor. Naturally, as the Governor’s relation he may be sympathetic to the Governor’s political beliefs. But we are hesitant to think that the gruesome murder is politically motivated. But all fingers point to that fact. And this to us is ominous, especially now that the elections are around the corner.”

She said even when the Governor would not want to make comment on the murder because the victim is his relation,Semenitari said the government enjoins the Police to unravel the Killers and bring them to justice. And it should not be one such killings that will join the league of unresolved murders and other heinous crimes in the country.
