Newly promoted Leicester City came from two goals down to stun Manchester United with a 5-3 defeat in a Premier League match today.

Robin van Persie and record signing Angel di Maria had given the Red Devils a 2-0 lead after 16 minutes, though Leicester’s record signing Leonardo Ulloa pulled one back with a header.

Having being denied in the 10th, van Persie put the visitors ahead two minutes later with a far post header off a cross from Radamel Falcao who was handed a first start since joining United.

Di Maria made it 2-0 four minutes later with a spectacular chip from just inside the area over the Leicester goalkeeper for his second league goal, but countryman Ulloa got the hosts back in the game with a header a minute later.

Ander Herrera then restored United’s lead just before the hour mark with a backheeled effort as Louis van Gaal’s men looked set to claim a second win of the season following last weekend’s win at home to Queens Park Rangers.

Leicester however had other ideas, as two goals in two minutes just after the hour mark from David Nugent – with a penalty – and Estaban Cambiasso with a fierce strike from close range turned the match’s momentum to the Foxes’ favour.

Jamie Vardy put Leicester ahead for the first time in the 73rd minute while Ulloa sealed a remarkable result for last season’s Championship winners with an 83rd minute penalty earned after a foul by United youngster Tyler Blackett, who got sent off as a result.

In another Premier League match played today, West Brom came away from White Hart Lane with a shock 1-0 win over Tottenham Hotspur courtesy of a James Morrison goal in the 74th minute.

The win, a first this season, saw West Brom go off the bottom of the table and out of the rrelegation zone into 15th spot with five points, while Spurs dropped to ninth place with seven points.
