Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi is among eight players who have arrived at the Calabar camp of the Super Eagles ahead of the Cup of African Nations qualifying matches against Congo and South Africa.

Nine players had taken part in the morning session of training but the arrival of Mikel as well as Lazio midfielder Ogenyi Onazi, Middlesbrough defender Kenneth Omeruo and Hull City forward Sone Aluko among others has seen the number in camp rise to 17 players.

Also in camp now are goalkeeper Austin Ejide, full back Juwon Oshaniwa as well as attacking midfielder Ahmed Musa who scored two goals in his last match with Russian club CSKA Moscow over the weekend.

Meanwhile Lille goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has been replaced in the squad by David Obiazor of Nigeria Premier League side El-Kanemi Warriors, with personal reasons cited for Enyeama’s absence in the squad.

Reigning African champions Nigeria will face Congo in Calabar on Saturday before going south of the continent to face South Africa next Wednesday.
