Super Eagles midfielder Ogenyi Onazi has signed a two-year contract extension with his Italian Serie A club SS Lazio, an extension which will keep him at the Rome based club till 2018.

Onazi’s new deal also includes an improved personal term at the club, with his weekly wage under his old contract – which was to expire in June 2016 -reportedly worth $5,500 per week.

After signing the contract extension, the midfielder stated ”It is important to know that your future at the club is sorted. I’ve always insisted that I love it here and I’m delighted to stay.”

He added ”My focus and desire is to give my best in the club colours and continue to enjoy the love and warmth of our fans. As a young footballer you learn every day, work tirelessly and seek to improve. I have the players, staff and the needed support to grow here.”

By signing the extension, the 2013 Nations Cup winner puts to rest speculation linking him with a transfer to Premier League clubs Everton, Sunderland or Southampton as well as to Germany, Russia and France.
