Early goals from Mattia Destro and Allesandro Florenzi sent AS Roma to the top of Serie A while Napoli’s poor start to the league season continued in a lone goal loss at Udinese today.

After seeing Juventus maintain its perfect start to the season with a 1-0 win at AC Milan on Saturday, Roma claimed a 2-0 win at home to Cagliari to also make it three wins from three matches and lead the league by virtue of goal difference.

Destro put the Giallorossi ahead in the 10th minute while Florenzi extended Roma’s lead three minutes later, getting booked afterwards for running into the stands to celebrate the goal with his 82-year old grandmother.

Elsewhere in Serie A on Sunday, a second half goal from Danilo condemned Napoli to a 1-0 loss at Udinese while in Sicily, Fiorentina won 1-0 at Atalanta and Inter Milan played out a 1-1 draw at Palermo.

In other matches, Sassuolo recovered from a 7-0 loss at Inter Milan last weekend to draw goalless at home to Sampdoria, Lazio lost 1-0 at Genoa, Parma came from a goal down to win 3-2 at Chievo Verona while Hellas Verona won 1-0 at Torino.
