Abubakar Shekau, the several times killed leader of the Boko Haram group has claimed that his fighters shot down a Nigerian military jet that was reported missing last month.
The Air Force reported the Alpha jet and its two man crew missing in Adamawa state around 14 September.
The military claimed to have been searching for the wreckage since then.
In the video now in circulation, Shekau said his group shot down the jet.
But an air force spokesman disputed the claim.
“For any group to claim they shot it down is mere propaganda and rubbish,” Air Commodore Dele Alonge said.
Up till 28 September the Nigerian Air Force was still in search of the jet.
“We are still searching for the aircraft. The search team is still at work. Every information received so far has not given us a clue about its location,” the spokesman of the NAF, Air Commodore Dele Alonge, said
