As the All Progressives Congress, APC, government winds up in Ekiti State, members of the Ekiti State Executive Council today showered encomiums on Governor Kayode Fayemi for giving them the opportunity to serve in his cabinet.

All the exco members attended the last meeting held at the new governor’s office in Ado-Ekiti. It was presided over by Governor Kayode Fayemi between 5 and 7:10pm today.

But conspicously absent was Yemi Adaramodu, the controversial chief of staff to the governor.

The cabinet members unanimously described Fayemi as a rare leader.

The state Deputy Governor, Professor Modupe Adelabu led the evening of tributes. She said she enjoyed working with Fayemi and that her appointment was a testimony because she never expected it.

In a statement titled, Valedictory; the puzzle, the future, Commissioner for Integration and Inter-Governmental Affairs, Funminiyi Afuye said Fayemi “came to the political-economic space of Ekiti like a meteor.

“Yet, the clear developmental vision promised the people in all indices of human endeavours as encapsulated in the 8-point of the administration, can be said to have been achieved to the hilt: education, infrastructure, agriculture, tourism, women empowerment, etc that Ekiti can never be the same again.”

For the commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Vincent Oladapo Kolawole, he learnt from the outgoing governor that with careful planning, prudent management and unavowed commitment to the welfare of the people, a caring leader can deliver dividends of democracy to the people even with meager resources which is the situation in Ekiti.

He added, “In such a little time, you have changed Ekiti for better with your vision and all good things that were hitherto thought impossible have been made possible with your sterling and enviable leadership style.”

For the Commissioner for Environment, he would forever cherish the lessons he learnt about humanity and sociology of Ekiti people stressing, “I will take with me all that you taught us about resourcefulness, loyalty, integrity and prudence.

Former governor of the state, Otunba Niyi Adebayo and Engineer Segun Oni in their remarks admitted that Fayemi served the state meritoriously.

Adebayo said, “The is the best governor that has so far served this state. I am happy that you came and did very very well. Everywhere I go to, all I hear is people praising and praying for you. You have done well and you make me extremely proud.”

Adebayo however urged members of APC in the state to stay focused and be united, stressing that nobody can intimidate them in their father’s land.

“Now we need to show that Ekiti State is APC state. We are not running away from here. If they bring trouble, they will meet us’, Adebayo said.

Reacting, Governor Fayemi called for peace in the state and emphasised that reconciliation among all the opposition members should be embarked upon.

He then called for a motion for adjournment sine die.

It was moved by the Special Adviser on MDGs, Mrs. Bunmi Dipo-Salami and seconded by Special Adviser on Infrastructure and Public Utility.
