The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayodele Fayose, has continued to pummel the public image of his predecessor, this time accusing him of building a N3.3 billion state house, instead of taking care of the teachers.

It was at a meeting with principals of secondary schools in Ado-Ekiti, that Fayose chose to nail ex-governor Fayemi again, attacking him for dragging the education standard of the state backwards, such that the students did no longer do well in the school certificate examinations.

Fayose: hits Fayemi again

“I knew how I was able to partner with you to bring Ekiti from 35th to sixth position. I will still do the same now. Before any payment to political appointees, you will be the first to be considered. During my first term, I met a deplorable education sector, but with your support, I overcame.

“But it was so bad and disheartening that rather than for ex-Governor Fayemi to face human capital development, he believed in building a N3.3 billion Governor’s Lodge for his own comfort at the expense of you workers.”, Fayose told a cheering assembly of teachers and principals.

The governor always full of drama had begun the day by weeping and prostrating before the teachers and when he found his voice, he thanked them for not abandoning him, after he was impeached in 2006.

But the governor apparently had forgotten that the teachers and principals did not vote for him in the 2011 election, when he lost the Senate seat to political debuttant, Babafemi Ojudu.

The past having been glossed over, Fayose applauded the teachers for their unwavering loyalty to him, describing their support as the magic that brought him to power the second time.

He rolled on the floor for them, said he was overwhelmed by the kind of love the teachers had displayed towards him.

The governor who arrived amidst cheers and songs of praise broke down in tears.

When he eventually regained his voice, the governor lamented that the standard of education had fallen since he left office adding that Ekiti was sixth and seventh positions in 2005 and 2006 in external examination through the cooperation with teachers.

Fayose promised to re-enact the feat in his second coming with their cooperation. He also promised to pay the salaries being owed them.
