Obanikoro salutes Ambode, seeks robust campaign rivalry with him

Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial hopeful, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has congratulated the All Progressives Congress, APC, governorship candidate, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for his victory at the party’s primaries.

The former Accountant General of Lagos emerged winner of the APC governorship primaries held at Onikan, Lagos, southwest Nigeria, with a landslide victory over rival aspirants.

Obanikoro tweets the congratulatory message via his twitter handle, @MObanikoro, Friday evening.

The tweet reads:”I congratulate Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on his emergence as the APC Lagos gubernatorial candidate.

“I look forward to a robust electioneering encounter with Ambode and other gubernatorial candidates! God bless our dear Lagos State.”

Meanwhile, the former Nigeria Ambassador to Ghana will know his fate at the party’s primaries slated for Monday.

The PDP in a statement signed by its state publicity secretary, Taofeek Gani, stated that the party had cleared seven aspirants to contest in the governorship primaries.

He added that the eighth candidate, Dr Ade Dosunmu, had stepped down to contest for the Lagos Central senatorial race.

According to him, those cleared to contest the PDP governorship primaries include former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Dr Adegbola Dominic, Mr Babatunde Gbadamosi, Mr Jimi Agbaje, Dr Deji Doherty, Mr Tokunbo Kamson and Mrs Modupe Chukwuemeka.

The party warned the various governorship aspirants on its platform to desist from maligning themselves in disguise, using different groups.

It stated further that any aspirant found to be culpable would be sanctioned.

    Exactly my point Sir, Koro will soon have another occasion to exhibit that political maturity when Ambode wins the election to become Fashola’s successor-in-office……unless Jimi Agbaje is fielded by PDP.

    What gives you that impression. Koro’s action is a sign of maturity acoss the political class in Lagos. Even Gov. Fashola has not congratulated him despite from the same political party.
