It seems the last word has not been heard on the rescheduled elections into the House of Representatives and the Ogun central senate by ruling All Progressives Congress, APC in Ogun State, southwest, Nigeria.

The elections scheduled for today did not hold.

A reliable source from the Party State secretariat, Abeokuta said the elections have been postponed till Friday, after the party’s national convention in Lagos.

“Yes, I want to confirm to you that the election will not hold again today. There are many issues that we need to resolve internally before we move out again for another election. The internal mechanism will be put in place to settle all the raised issues during the last primaries which made those elections to be inconclusive.

“We cannot just go ahead with such re run, it may result the same way it ended on Sunday and to avoid that, considering all the resources, both human and logistic, we need to get it right before calling for another elections.

“The party officials and leaders will be meeting with all the aspirants from the three affected federal constituencies to see if we can talk to them and see whether the matter could be resolved internally and there will be no need of going through rigorous exercise like we had on Sunday. As we are speaking now, a lot of meetings are going on and I have the confidence that we will get out of this logjam, that is part of the beauty of democracy,” the source said.

The Federal House of Representatives primaries which were conducted on Sunday were declared inconclusive in three federal constituencies: Ijebu Central Federal Constituency (Ijebu Ode, Ijebu North East and Odogbolu), Ijebu
North, Ijebu East and Ogun Waterside federal constituency and Abeokuta South.

The primaries were marred by irregularities which resulted in the postponement of the elections

Ogun state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a release Monday morning, which was signed by Sen. Adudu, Chairman of the APC Electoral Committee, saddled with the task of conducting National Assembly primaries in the state revealed that the re-run elections in the three constituencies will hold today.

As early as 8:00 am, delegates and party supporters gathered at both the Itoro hall, Ijebu Ode and Ijebu East Area office, Ojowo, Ijebu Ife for the Ijebu Central and Ijebu North/Ijebu East/ Ogun Waterside federal constituencies.

“We were told that the election will again be conducted today, now this is around 2:00pm, we have not seen any sign of readiness from their end. It may another way of rigging, they may thought that, when they continue to waste our time, we will feel depressed and tired and leave for our various houses, it is a great lie, we are going nowhere, until we see to the end of this election and the peoples wish triumph,” said one of the delegates in Ijebu-Ode.
