Mr. Opeyemi Soyombo, the Special Assistant on Media to Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State, has said that the governor has delivered democratic dividends of three terms in just three years of his first term in office.
He explained that by virtue of the governor’s sterling performance in just three years, “the much elusive development is actually within our reach and attainment, despite our suffocating unitary system disguised as federalism.”
He also expressed optimism in the re-election bid of the governor,predicting landslide victory for him during the next year’s governorship elections.
Soyombo said this Thursday during the public presentation of a book authored by him and titled; ‘Ogun State:The Golden Years which was held at the DLK Events Centre,Kuto,Abeokuta,the State capital.
The media aide to the governor however noted that the gargantuan investment in social services across the nooks and crannies of the State is an attestation to Governor Amosun’s achievements.
According to him:”investment in social services such as security,education,road, health,employment generation,etc which was unprecedented in the annals of the State was a testament to the extraordinary commitment of the Governor to the welfare of the good people of Ogun State” .
On the second term bid of the Governor, he said reports from cities, towns, villages and hamlets across the state actually indicated that Amosun would secure a landslide in 2015.
“A journey can be long and uneventful while a journey can be short and full of events. Amosun has proved that one does not need 20 years to make the difference in the lives of your people. And if he has done this much in 3 years, you can imagine what the state will look like by the time he completes 8 years in office.”
He stated that the book would help the Nigerian society in its choices.
“It is the duty of writers not only to mirror the society but help the people in making the right decisions. And electoral decision is so fundamental hence citizens should be reminded of the road they had marched so that they do not return to Egypt either by design or default,” he submitted.
The book was reviewed by the President, Nigeria Guild of Editors,NGE,Mr Femi Adesina, who revealed that the book is timely and accurate as it dwells much on the achievements of the present administration in the State.
He noted that the book will in future serve as guide and reference towards good governance,not only in the State but in the country at large.
The governor,who was represented at the book launch by the Secretary to the State Government,SSG,Barr.Taiwo Adeoluwa promised that his administration will continue to provide more dividends of democracy to every parts of the State, irrespective of their political or ethnic coloration.
Governor Amosun who assured the people of the State of his government continuous provision of conducive environment for investment to thrive,hinted that the people have not seen anything yet.
The unveiling of the historic book was done by the wife of the State governor,Mrs Olufunso Amosun.
Dignataries from the media and advertising world were among the personalities who graced the occasion.
