The Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party in Delta state, Chief Edwin Uzor, said 148 aspirants contested in the just-concluded State House of Assembly primaries on the platform of the party.
Uzor said 29 of them emerged from the 29 constituencies of the state House of Assembly.
He gave the figure on Wednesday at the party secretariat in Asaba while presenting Certificate Of Return to the candidates.
Uzor, while congratulating the party’s flag bearers in the various constituencies, expressed optimism that the 2015 general elections would be peaceful.
According to him, Delta is a peaceful state and because Delta is a peaceful state, the 2015 general elections in the state will be peaceful.
The party flag bearers included Mr Monday Igbuya, (Sapele), Patience Ajudua, (Oshimili North), Mr Daniel Mayuku, (Warri South West) and Dr Alphonsus Ojo (Ukwani).
Seventeen of the candidates including the Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly are presently members of the state House of Assembly
