The crisis between governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State and his estranged political godfather, who was a former governor of the State, Chief Olusegun Osoba has taken a new dimension.

On Saturday, Amosun’s All Progressives Congress, APC vacated the building being used as the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The building, “Akinrogun’s House”, belongs to Chief Osoba. He donated it to the then Ogun State Chapter of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. The place also became APC secretariat after the merger of legacy parties.

Osoba now leads a breakaway faction of the party in the Social Democratic Party, SDP. His lawyer, several weeks ago, wrote to the APC leadership in the State, giving them 4 weeks to vacate the property.

The APC left the building quietly yesterday to another office, just about 200 metres away.

APC chairman, Alhaji Roqeeb Adeniyi declared that,he would prefer to be silent for now and promised to address a press conference on the matter on Monday.

Confirming the movement, the Organising Secretary of the party, Gbenga Ademosun explained that they did not want to engage the former governor in any legal battle and had to vacate the office.

According to him, “All I can say is that we have vacated the place, we decided to leave the area because we are not ready to engage Baba Osoba in any legal battle.

“He wrote a letter to us through his lawyer that he has leased the house to another person and we don’t want any confusion we have to vacate the place, especially when we now have a more befitting secretariat at Iyana Mortuary, “Ademosun posited.

It was learnt that the SDP will move into the office any moment from now.
