Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, eastern Nigeria is using the opportunity of the Christmas celebration to call for prayers that the country experience peaceful elections in February 2015.

Nigeria’s general elections hold in February and many citizens and organisations across the world are apprehensive of how the elections would hold.

In a Christmas message in Owerri, Okorocha further urged Nigerians to pray for divine intervention over insurgency that had claimed many innocent lives in the country especially as the world marks the birth of Jesus Christ, the Prince of peace in the world.

Okorocha said emphasis on religion and ethnic divide was drawing the country backward instead of moving her forward as he added that Nigeria would do better as a united nation than as a polarised country.

Okorocha warned the country’s elite to stop fanning the ember of discord since ordinary Nigerians have no problem with each other.

He urged the people of the state to remain peaceful and loving and reiterated his administration’s resolve to make the state a continued success story.
