The APC governorship candidate in Rivers State, Dr. Dakuku Peterside, on has identified corruption as the cause of insecurity and other challenges facing the nation.

Peterside made the disclosure in Port Harcourt at the 71st birthday thanksgiving service of the Presiding Bishop of Overcomers Ministries, Rt. Rev. Ombo Isokariari.

Peterside lamented that Nigeria was facing a lot of challenges, which had led to social vices.

“We need the power of God’s presence to fight corruption and take the nation out of backwardness.

“When we have the presence of God in affairs of our state, no challenge will set us back or consume us,” he said.

According to Peterside, Nigerians cannot continue to do things the same way and expect different result.

He advised Christians to have a new approach to doing things to enthrone a leadership whose character and actions would reflect the will of God.

Also at the Hilltop Christian Centre, Peterside told the congregation that as an adult, he had never belonged to any secret cult.

“What matters most is as members of the body of Christ, we must stand up against evil and speak out in the face of frustration for what is right,” he said.

In his speech, Mr Chris Oarhe, the Senior Pastor of the church, said that leadership was not a joke but a responsibility.

He urged Christians to pray for those in authority always.

Mr. PERESIDE…..we don’t need God to cure Nigeria of corruption. Neither do we need prayer to do it. Don’t talk mess that you know will never happen. What we need is to disband Federal Police in Nigeria and allow each local government to set up its own force which it can fire at will, which reports to it and which trumps army navy or air force in that locality and which is comprised of residents of that locality. We need a police force that reports to the local government council not the governor or a commissioner. Leave a God out of it.
