Governor Isa Yuguda: loses mother

Hajiya Hauwa Yuguda, the mother of Gov. Isa Yuguda of Bauchi State, has died at the age of 85, the governor announced on Wednesday.

Hauwa, who died from a protracted illness, has been buried according to Islamic rites.

She is survived by three children, including the Chairman of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board, Alhaji Abdullahi Babo, and had more than 30 grandchildren.

Speaking to newsmen shortly after her funeral in Bauchi on Thursday, Yuguda described her death as a tragedy.

“A mother is a mother and anybody who loses a mother loses a treasure.

“You cannot compare a mother with anything in life. She gave birth to you and does everything for you.

“She carried you for nine months, fed you with her milk. You vomited on her, passed faeces on her, urinated on her and denied her precious sleep. She watches you grow up.

“What else can you say? A mother is indeed a wonderful human being God has made possible for you to come through, “he said.

According to him, there is time to be born and time to die and all humanity should wait for their turn to die.

The governor described the death of his mother as a big loss but added that it was God’s will for her to go.

“No matter how much we loved and valued her, it was her time to die and nobody can stop that.

“We pray that the almighty Allah will grant her Aljannah Fridaus and may He bless us that she left behind and made it possible for us to respect His wishes,’’ the governor said.

Alhaji Abdullahi Dabo, the Chairman, Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board, said Hauwa lived an exemplary life.

“Our mother lived an exemplary life. She has been a very passionate person and very jovial throughout her life time.

“She was a very humble mother, who dedicated her life to Almighty God and very kind and concern about the welfare of her children.

“We will really miss her, but we really thank God that we parted with her peacefully, “Dabo added.

Also, the National Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Ahmed Muazu, said the death of Hauwa as a great loss not only to the family but to Bauchi State in general.

Muazu said Hauwa, popularly called Goggo, took care of him alongside Yuguda, adding that she was indeed a caring mother and prayed for the repose of her soul. (N
