2 Nigerian farmers killed, dozens wounded by gunmen

The Nigerian police  said on Saturday in Jalingo, Taraba state, that unidentified gunmen shot dead two farmers on their farms in Kortse village in Gassol Local Government Area.

Mr Joseph Kwaji, the Police Public Relations Officer, of the Taraba state Police command told newsmen that dozen others were injured in the attack.

He said that the gunmen also attacked six families, who were fishing in Kortse village, near Dan-Anacha, killed two persons, while others ran for their lives.

He said that when the news of the attack got to the police, they combed the area but could not arrest any suspect.

Kwaji said that the remains of the deceased were recovered and handed over to their families for burial.

The victims of the attack were displaced persons, who returned home after previous deadly attacks in the area.

It was the third time in two weeks that the returnees were being attacked by unidentified gunmen.
