INEC boss opens official home for Kebbi REC, 35 more in pipeline

Hajiya Amina Zakari, the acting Chairman,  Nigeria’s Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Saturday inaugurated the official residence of Kebbi state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC). And she said, all the resident commissioners in the 35 other  states, will have official homes.

Zakari said that provision of befitting residential accommodation for RECs, was to consolidate the commission’s autonomy and ensure its independence to meet its mandate.

She commended the Kebbi government for providing land for the project.

She promised that by 2019, all INEC Resident Electoral Commissioners across the country would have befitting official residences to guarantee their Independence and safety.

Alhaji Bello Magaji, the Commission’s administrative secretary in the state, commended the chairman for the project and urged stakeholders to assist INEC’s quest for transparent polls in 2015
