Mourinho: Chelsea only garner 4 points in four matches

It was a day of stunning upsets on Day 4 of the Barclays Premier League as Chelsea and Liverpool, suffered home defeats.

Crystal Palace claimed  a shock win at  Stamford Bridge, to hand to  Jose Mourinho  his second defeat in his 100th home league game in charge of Chelsea.

In Anfield, West Ham, shock winner over Arsenal in the league opener, further sounded a note of warning to the league big guns, that they’ve got some stuff to spring surprises when they needed to. They banged three unreplied goals against Liverpool. Worse, Liverpool game maker, Coutinho was handed a red card.

At Stamford Bridge, although  Chelsea dominated possession in the first half,  in the second half, Palace took the lead when Bakary Sako drove in after Yannick Bolasie’s low cross.

Chelsea responded when substitute Radamel Falcao headed in his first goal for the club.

Palace regained the lead immediately as Joel Ward stabbed in a late winner on 81st minute.

West Ham players at Anfield, Coutinho gets a red card

Chelsea, the reigning Premier League champions, are now eight points behind leaders Manchester City after four games.

Here is what manager Jose Mourinho said after his side lost: ‘My first thought is to Palace,’ began Mourinho.

‘They came with everything, their team was ready, their players were ready and they came with a fantastic spirit. They were lucky but they deserved the luck, they fought a lot for that.

‘Secondly my team, I think we deserved more. I am not saying we deserved to win because it is not true, but we deserved more than the result we got.

Coutinho: sent off

In Anfield, West Ham staged an act that they last achieved 52 years ago, beating Liverpool at home, with  three unanswered goals.

Ten-man West Ham secured victory thanks to first-half goals from Manuel Lanzini, Noble and another in injury time from Diafra Sakho.

Liverpool, who also finished with 10 men after Philippe Coutinho was given his marching orders for two bookable offences, were absolutely wretched and this result punctures the early cautious optimism that had started to grow after their unbeaten start.
