Labaran Maku: loses Turakin Eggon title

Nigeria’s former minister of information, Mr Labaran Maku, is now a persona non grata at home in Nasarawa state, as he has been stripped of the traditional title of ‘Turakin Eggon’ by the paramount ruler of Eggon nation, HRH Bala Angbazo.

A letter signed by the secretary to the traditional council, Mr Christopher Alaku, conveyed the monarch’s decision.

No reason was given for the decision.

Reports said Maku must have incurred the wrath of Eggon traditional council, after he rejected it’s support for Senator Solomon Ewuga, as the ethnic group’s consensus candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party governorship primary in the build up to the 2015 election.

Both Ewuga and Maku eventually lost the ticket and Maku dumped the PDP to contest on the platform of APGA.

Maku is yet to comment on the latest development.
