85 year old chief kidnapped in Bayelsa

An 85-year-old Paramount ruler of Gbarantoru Community of Yenagoa Local Government area,in the Bayelsa state capital, Chief B.N.S.Weke, has been kidnapped.

He was abducted  shortly after midnight today,Friday September 4, by four  unidentified gunmen .

The four men shot sporadically into the air before whisking their majestic target to an known destination.

One of the sons Benjamin Weke,who revealed in his Facebook “The photo in this post is my father, His Highness B.N.S Weke, the paramount ruler of Gbarantoru community who is 85years old.

“Sadly, he got kidnapped at about 1am on the morning of Friday Sept. 4th by 4 heavily armed men.

” We do not know where he has been taken to as no contact has been made yet by his kidnappers. I am using this medium to call on all the relevant authorities to wade into the matter and secure his safe release. May the Almighty keep him safe for us. Amen.”

Benjamin Weke, the son of the Paramount ruler and a graduate of the University of Calabar, called on that relevant authorities to intervene and rescue the elderly traditional ruler.

Benjamin S. Ogbara,a concerned member of Gbarantoru community in his reaction to the kidnap on behalf of Yenagoa Local Government youth from Epie-Atissa, Gbarain- Epetiama and Okordia, Zarama, Biseni  called on the youths of Yenagoa local government to rise up to defend their areas.

“We should not be allowing people to come in to kidnap our people and elders always. Communities should liaise with security agencies and Government to set up strong vigilante to quell any possible kidnap or other criminal acts in our areas.”

The full details surrounding the abduction remained sketchy.

The Bayelsa Police command is yet to officially react to the abduction of the elderly Paramount ruler at the time of filing the report and neither has there been any contact from the abductors.
