Venus and Serena Williams will meet for the 27th time in their career on Tuesday in the quarter-finals of the US Open.
Both sisters earned their tickets Sunday after dispatching their opponents in the fourth round. Venus defeated qualifier Anett Kontaveit 6-2, 6-1 win in just 50 minutes. It was her first US Open quarterfinal since 2010.
And her reward, is the quarter-final match with her sister, Serena, who later defeated fellow American, Madison keys, 6-3, 6-3.
Serena holds a 15-11 advantage over her sister in career head-to-head and an 8-5 advantage in Grand Slam meetings.
“I don’t feel any pressure,” Williams said about the Grand Slam.
As for facing her older sister yet again, Serena said, “The only difference is we’re a lot older. I have to really be ready for that; I have to play like I did today, or better.”
