James Faleke

The All Progressives Congress has officially picked James Abiodun Faleke, the lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives as the deputy governorship candidate for Kogi state.

Faleke, chairman of the House Committee on Ethics, Anti-corruption and National Values in the Seventh Assembly, was also former two time chairman of Ojodu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Lagos State as well as ex-Chairman of Conference 57,  the umbrella organisation for the chairmen of the 20 local governments and 37 LCDAs in Lagos State.

Faleke is 54 years old.

The choice of Faleke was a unanimous decision among party leaders and the governorship candidate of the party for the election, Alhaji Abubakar Audu.

A source within the top hierarchy of the ruling party disclosed that this was arrived at in the early hours of today after a long deliberation.

It was further gathered that the idea to pitch Faleke with Audu was reportedly wanted by the party to placate the Kogi West and Central electorate to make up for their grievances which the party noted were genuine.

According to the source,“Faleke comes into the race with a lot of electoral value and experience having served as a local government chairman and also enjoying a second tenure in the National Assembly from Lagos State. He’s a known trusted ally of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National leader of the party”.

Faleke is also a deep rooted grassroots mobiliser who is well loved by many for several qualities including but not limited to humility, loyalty, commitment and diligence.
