As of Sunday, Sept. 13, the Team Nigeria has so far won 13 gold, 21 silver and 17 bronze medals at the ongoing 11th African Games in Congo Brazzaville.
The boxing team won four gold, and two silver medals.
Team Nigeria had earlier won eight gold, 17 silver and 10 bronze medals from some other events, while Nigeria won gold medal in cycling team event in the 25km race and silver in the road race, 62.5km.
Team Nigeria also won silver in women’s singles and one bronze in team.
Meanwhile the Nigeria Table Tennis Federation (NTTF), Technical Adviser, Martin Adomeit says he cannot predict the number of medals that his team will win at the ongoing 11th African Games in Brazzaville.
The Games which started on Sept. 4 will end on Sept.19.
Adomeit told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Sunday in Brazzaville after the men and women teams, booked their tickets for the finals at the Revolution Sports Centre, Brazzaville.
According to him, the team will take every match one at a time.
“In spite of good performances of the players at the commencement of the competition, by winning all their matches in the team events and booking places in the final, It is still too early to predict the number of medals the team will win.
“We had a brilliant start but we will take our matches one at a time. I have two matches against Egypt in the final of team events in both the male and the female categories.
“Until that job is done and delivered, I cannot say we are winning this or that number of gold medals,” Adomeit said.
He, however, expressed optimism on, that the team was having good outings so far at the Games.
Meanwhile, Team Nigeria (Table Tennis) walloped Ghana 3-0 in the men’s team events to secure the final ticket, while their female counterparts reproduced stunninf form to defeat hosts, Congo 3-0.
The two Nigerian teams would play against Egypt in the finals later on Sunday.
An excited Nigeria’s Seun Ajetunmobi said he was happy with the team spirit in the team’s camp.
“I have been feeling good since the commencement of the Games even though we have yet to play any tough match.
“We really prepared very well for this competition and we hope that we can crown it up with victory against any team in the final.
