A chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party in Abita State, Chief John Okiyi kalu, has extolled the leadership style of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu as he marks his first 100 days in office, saying that his administration has been able to send praise singers packing, noting that sycophancy is not a lucrative business in Abia.

Chief Kalu stated this in Umuahia while fielding questions from TheNEWS that unlike before when praise singers held sway in the state, now government of Ikpeazu has shown from all intents and purposes that sycophancy will not play any major role in his government. Kalu further disclosed that those who hitherto engaged in praise singing have now looked for an alternative pastime as the government has the least time for these political jobbers.

“I think the direction the governor is taking is a positive one. I can see a new Abia. Okezie Ikpeazu is committed to the Abia project,” Kalu pointed out, adding that the governor is a typical Aba boy who grew up in Aba and knows the pains of the people.

The technology consultant revealed that right now the governor is in Turkey looking for investors in technology related issues to boost the state economy. He further explained that we have seen so much commitment in his bid to take the state to greater height.

“Abia now is a massive construction site. I am looking forward to much more. l feel that the mandate given to Ikpeazu is to develop Aba because that is the reason why we elected him as well as other zones of the state. Ikpeazu’s works in his first 100 days in office speaks volumes of itself. I have seen work at Omni road, Udeagbala, Ukaegbu, Ariaria all in Aba. I have seen concerted efforts to create roads other than Aba Owerri road. I have also seen ICT driven programme and plans, Agric programme which takes after the Songhai farm in Porto Novo Songhai. I am happy that health workers have gone back to work just as Judiciary workers. I see Umuwaya road. I have seen faces of common people. I have seen hope, a man with a mission. These are clear proofs that it is no longer business as usual in Abia; sycophancy has gone for good and the money hitherto used for it is now spent on developing Abia.”

X-raying Governor Ikpeazu and President Buhari’s 100 days in office, Kalu gave kudos to the Governor of Abia State for a job well done so far, stating that there are no official activities marking it, saying that he is in Turkey looking for investors to assist Aba shoe makers. He however took a swipe at President Buhari over his method of fighting corruption, targeted at political enemies while sparing members of his own party APC. Kalu also lampooned him on the appointment saying that it favours his northern brothers than the South.

Kalu who stressed that the goodwill that brought Buhari to power has been frittered away called for all embracing probes and appointments.
