Senator Ekweremadu

Senator Ike Ekweremadu, Deputy President of the Senate and Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Post-Election Review Committee, said the committee’s report would be submitted 30 September.

This is contained in a statement signed by Mr Uche Anichukwu, Ekweremadu’s Special Adviser (Media), and made available to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja.

The statement said that the committee had held a retreat to harmonise and adopt the report ahead of the submission.

It added that the committee had done its best in diagnosing and addressing the challenges facing the PDP.

“I do not have the mandate of the committee to speak on the details of our work yet. That will be done at the appropriate time.

“I want to assure members of our party that we have done our best in accordance with our terms of reference and that our report is ready for submission,’’ the statement quoted Ekweremadu as saying.

The statement said that in view of the forthcoming Eid el Kabir holiday, the report would be submitted to the party on Sept. 30 instead of Sept. 23 as earlier scheduled.

The chairman expressed happiness at the enthusiasm and interest shown in the work of the committee by party faithful within and outside the country.

The Post-Election Review Committee was inaugurated on May 5 with a nine-point agenda.

The committee was mandated to identify the immediate and remote causes of the party’s poor performance in the last general elections and propose a road map to restore the party’s fortunes
