DStv is bringing a touch of magic to viewers’ television screens later this month with the addition of exciting new channels and new highly-acclaimed international series from M-Net. The leading pay television company has announced that from 26 October, Premium, Compact Plus, Compact and Family subscribers will have even more reason to enjoy their television viewing experience with the launch of VUZU and-Net Family.
Yolisa Phahle, CEO, M-Net Sub-Saharan Africa, said the company is pleased that the new two channels will now be available to audiences across sub-Saharan Africa. She noted that these channels are designed to, respectively, offer fun family-focused and youth-focused entertainment with a mix of programming genres.
Martin Mabutho, General Manager, Marketing, MultiChoice Nigeria, speaking on the addition said it is in line with the company’s objectives to provide subscribers with varied and exciting content. “We are firmly committed to providing the best in quality television entertainment. The inclusion of these channels is to ensure that our subscribers get more value for their subscriptions and improved experience across all our packages,” he said.
VUZU (channel 116), will debut and join its premium sister channel, VUZU AMP (channel 114) on the DStv platform. VUZU is an edgy entertainment channel for urban African youth and the young at heart. It features a mix of international hit series and shows across a wide variety of genres. The channel will launch a brand new sci-fi drama, The Messengers, along with season 2 of the comedy series, Undateable, and the launch of fantasy comedy, Galavant, and action fantasy series, Constantine, based on the wildly popular comic book series “Hellblazer” from DC Comics.
With its mix of informative street culture news segments on V-Entertainment and its wide variety of genres including drama, reality, music, magazine and comedy shows, Vuzu is poised to become the new go-to channel for all things cool in urban youth culture.
Also debuting is M-Net Family (channel 162), a general entertainment channel packed with a variety of high quality international content – from drama and reality series to movies that will form part of the great family buffet of entertainment. Some of the exciting programming lined up on the channel include Project Runway, The Have and The Have Nots, Glee, Cougar Town, The Face UK, Benched, MasterChef Australia, The Talk and more.
Television connoisseurs who have a taste for the bold, risqué series on Premium’s M-Net Edge (Channel 119) can look forward to even more top-notch, boundary-pushing shows that have tongues wagging worldwide as more grittier content have been added to its schedule. “The two new channels, alongside the grittier, adult-focused M-Net Edge, allow us cater to different but equally important M-Net audiences,” added Phahle.
M-Net Edge, which has become renowned for its thought provoking international series, will continue to premiere first run-programming alongside iconic shows, but the schedule will be packed with more never-before-seen series that subscribers may prefer not to watch with the entire family. M-Net Edge will now be the dedicated home of higher age-restricted programming. Its viewers can also indulge in binge-viewing opportunities on weekends and early evening double bills, where the previously screened episode of a series will lead into a brand new episode.
