Gabriel Suswam, a former governor of Benue State was today, arrested by the Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, over alleged corruption during his tenure as governor from 2007 to May 2015.

According to Wilson Uwujaren, EFCC spokesperson, “Suswam was invited by the EFCC in connection with ongoing corruption investigation in Benue state.” He told TheNEWS: “I won’t call it arrest, he was just invited to answer some questions.” Asked whether the former governor had left EFCC, the spokesman said no, “he is still with us.” In other words, as at the time of writing this report, Suswam is still with EFCC.

On Friday, EFCC also arrested and quizzed Benue state’s former Commissioner for Finance, Omadachi Oklobia. He served under Suswam and he, according to Premium Times, was to defend the allegations of diversion of public funds, abuse of office, embezzlement and fraud in the Suswam years as governor of Benue state.
