For fans of late Afrobeat icon, Fela Anikulapo-Kuti, these are exciting times as the spirit of Abami Eda will be channelled by the award-winning London Afrobeat Collective band in their first-ever tour of Nigeria tagged, Pride of Culture.
Incorporating the energy and high-spirited stagecraft of Fela, the tour which is organized by Zmirage, brings the vast wealth of Africa, personified by Afrobeat to the fore.
The band which arrived Nigeria a couple of days ago will be playing four dates. The band will perform at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun on Thursday 15 October; Wheatbaker Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos on Friday 16 October; La Campaigne Tropicana, Akodo, Lagos on Saturday 17 October and final performance will be on Sunday 18 October (grand finale of Felabration) at the Africa Shrine, Central Business District, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos.
The 10-man LAC band is a UK-based ensemble of Afrobeat enthusiasts who aim to inspire more of Fela-like ingenuity not only in the area of music but other professional facets of life.
