The Deputy Consul-General of China, Mr Li Youg said on Monday that Lagos and Ogun states were economically and politically important to his country because of their strategic location.

Youg said this when he visited Police AIG Bala Hazan at his Zonal Headquarters, at Onikan, in Lagos

CSP Adebowale Lawal, the Police Public Relations Officer of Zone 2, quoted Youg as saying that the two states were among the states where Chinese were domiciled more in Nigeria.

But about  60 per cent of them are domiciled in Ogun and Lagos states.

Lawal  said that the deputy-consul general expressed satisfaction with how crime was being tackled in the states.

The deputy-consul general was accompanied by some of his staff, who oversee the activities of about 20 states in Nigeria, including Lagos and Ogun.

It pleaded with the AIG for adequate security for Chinese while carrying out their lawful businesses and at their various residences.

AIG  Hassan assured the consul-general that his command would continue to improve on its operational activities to further reduce the crime rate in the country.

He said  the police were not relenting in their efforts to arrest the robbers involved in the FESTAC Town banks robbery on Oct. 13.
