Police on Saturday took into custody the father and brother of a French gunman linked to a string of deadly Paris attacks and were searching the family’s home.

Sources close to a probe into the France’s worst ever terror attacks told AFP that police took the two into custody and were searching the father’s home in the small town of Romilly-sur-Seine, some 130 kilometres (80 miles) east of Paris, as well as his brother’s in nearby Bondoufle.

In Brussels, Belgium, four arrests have been made in connection with the Paris terror attacks in which at least 129 people were killed, Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel told broadcaster RTL on Saturday.

The arrests were made in the Brussels district of Molenbeek-Saint-Jean on Saturday afternoon.

Michel told RTL: “One of the people arrested was in Paris on Friday evening”, when the attacks left 129 dead and 352 injured, 99 critically, according to the latest figures from the Paris prosecutor’s office.

According to Le Monde newspaper in France, investigators hope to trace a gang of attackers who it is believed may have fled the scene of the massacre for Belgium.

Le Monde added that French police had found a car with Belgian licence plates near Rue Bichat, the scene of one of the shootings. An eyewitness told the paper that the driver appeared to be aged between 18 and 20. A parking ticket from Molenbeek was also found nearby.

La Derniere Heure newspaper said evidence had been taken from properties in the Molenbeek district of Brussels.

Belgian Foreign Minister Didier Reynders said earlier on Saturday that two Belgians, from the southern city of Liege, were among those killed in the attacks.
