Uganda cranes: upset Togo

Uganda has routed Togo out of the World Cup qualification race, beating the West African team, 4-0 agggregate.

After recording a first leg win in Lome last week, the Ugandans further demolished Coach Tom Sainfiet wards by a well deserved  3-0 victory. Geoffrey Massa had opened scoring on 4th minute. Farouk Miya added a brace on 41st and 45th minute.

The East African team coached by Milutin Sredojevic now joins Gabon and Zambia, as early qualifiers to the group race of the competition.

Gabon edged out Mozambique after a penalty shootout on Saturday.

Zambia consolidated its 1-0 lead over Sudan, by scoring additional two goals at home today, recording an aggregate 3-0. The two goals were scored in the second half as Sudan fought to stay in the race until  forward Lubambo Musonda netted Zambia’s first  goal on 59th minute. Striker Winston Kalengo added the second goal of the day on 81st minute.

Morocco and Congo DR have also qualified for the next round. Morocco survived a determined Equatorial Guine side today and won 2-1 on aggregate. Congo DR was also able to overcome Burundi, with a 5-4 aggregate.

Guinea is also set to join the group stage tonight, with a 2-0 aggregate lead against Namibia in Bamako.
