Nigerian Odion Ighalo of Watford and Wilfried Bony at Manchester City both scored to help their teams win in the Premier League at the weekend.

And on Monday, Algeria’s  Riyad Mahrez helped his Leicester team with  a sensationally curled ball to ensure victory over Chelsea at King Power Stadium and Leicester return to top of the Barclays Premier League.

In Germany Salomon Kalou hit the back of the net for Hertha Berlin, while Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyange made it 18 goals in 16 league matches for Borussia Dortmund.

Casimir Nina scored the winner for Montpellier in France, but Marseille’s Casimir Ninga was red-carded at home.
 
ENGLAND

ODION IGHALO (Watford)

Ighalo became the first Watford player to score 10 goals in a Premier League season as Quique Sanchez Flores’s team won 1-0 at Sunderland. The Nigerian settled the game in the fourth minute, sliding in at the near post to toe Allan Nyom’s right-wing cross past Sunderland goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon.

RIYAD MAHREZ (LEICESTER CITY): The 24 year old Algerian winger, Mahrez scored his 11th goal of the season with a sublime finish into the corner of Chelsea net, giving his team a comfortable two-goal lead, until Chelsea pegged the scoreline to 2-1 later in the game.

YAYA TOURE (Manchester City)

Toure provided the injury-time spark that earned City a last-gasp 2-1 victory at home to Swansea. Bafetimbi Gomis had just equalised for Swansea when the Ivorian midfielder picked up the ball on the right flank, ambled into the box and dispatched a left-foot shot that struck Nigerian team-mate Kelechi Iheanacho on the back before looping over Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski.

WILFRIED BONY (Manchester City)

Bony set City on their way to victory with a 26th-minute opener against his former club, the Ivory Coast striker charging in at the near post to convert Jesus Navas’s in-swinging corner with a downward header. It was Bony’s fifth goal in the last four Premier League meetings between the teams — three for Swansea, two for City — but he made a point of not celebrating out of respect for his former employers.

YANNICK BOLASIE (Crystal Palace)

The Democratic Republic of Congo winger was at his devastating best as Palace defeated Southampton 1-0. Bolasie set up Yohan Cabaye’s 38th-minute goal by surging past Jose Fonte and crossing from the right, and came close to scoring himself in the closing stages with a zinging right-foot volley that drew a smart save from Paulo Gazzaniga.

GERMANY

SALOMON KALOU (Hertha Berlin)

The Ivory Coast veteran scored his fifth league goal of the season as Hertha Berlin enjoyed their biggest win of the season with a 4-0 victory at Darmstadt to go third in the table. With Hertha 3-0 up, Kalou converted Vedad Ibisevic’s final pass with his left foot to score his side’s fourth with the hosts’ defence in tatters.

ANTHONY UJAH (Werder Bremen)

The Nigeria striker missed a penalty against his old side Cologne in his team’s 1-1 draw.

Replays showed Ujah was guilty of diving for a penalty, but his former team-mate and Cologne goalkeeper Timo Horn pulled off a superb diving save to deny the Nigerian what would have been his eighth league goal of the season.

PIERRE-EMERICK AUBAMEYANG (Borussia Dortmund)

The Gabon striker is on course to break Gerd Mueller’s record of 40 Bundesliga in a season after netting in Dortmund’s 4-1 win over ten-man Eintracht Frankfurt to leave him with 18 goals in 16 league matches.

Having fired an early penalty attempt wide, Aubameyang made amends to make it 2-1 early in the second half by converting Shinji Kagawa’s final pass.

At the same stage of the 1971/72 season, Bayern Munich’s Mueller had scored 17 goals.

SPAIN

CEDRIC BAKAMBU (Villarreal)

Congolese international striker Bakambu failed to build on his 10 goals this season, but did set up the winning goal for Roberto Soldado as Villarreal stunned Real Madrid 1-0 on Sunday.

ITALY

MOHAMED SALAHA (Roma)

Salah returned to Roma’s starting league line-up for the first time since an ankle injury in a 2-0 win against Lazio last month, and made a real difference for the title hopefuls as they battled Napoli to 0-0 stalemate. The Egyptian fired just wide of Pepe Reina’s post early on and kept Napoli’s defenders on their toes before being replaced by Juan Iturbe with 14 minutes remaining.

FRANCE

CASIMIR NINGA (Montpellier)

The Chad striker continued his impressive start to life in Europe by scoring the winner as Montpellier came from behind to beat Guingamp 2-1. That came a week after he netted twice in a 2-2 draw at Marseille, and the 22-year-old now has six goals from his first nine Ligue 1 appearances.

ABDELAZIZ BARRADA (Marseille)

It has been a mixed few days for Marseille’s French-born Moroccan international midfielder. He scored in a 4-2 win at Slovan Liberec in the Czech Republic on Thursday to help OM into the knockout phase of the Europa League but was then shown a straight red card in the second half of Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Gazelec Ajaccio in Ligue 1.
